Abby Beneke is a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College. She is excited to be partnering on two priority areas with NashvillePeer: student absenteeism and postsecondary readiness.

Using tools from sociology and anthropology, Abby’s qualitative research examines how school-level policy actors interpret, negotiate, and enact reform—and the consequences of these processes for educational equity and justice. She has expertise in teachers’ work, policy implementation, and school discipline. Prior to joining Peer, Abby received a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
